Unprotected Sex

         Sex is when a male's private part and a female's private part are combined. Many people do it before they are married or even before they are 18. Unprotected sex can cause pregnancy when the male ejaculates inside the female's private part. The sperm will then travel to the ovum where it will fuse. There are many things that can happen when the female is pregnant. 
         The most common thing is, ABORTION. But during this money making era, aborting a baby is too costly and that is why many partners decide to just throw their newly born baby into places like rubbish bin, jungle, etc. There was this one case about a woman that threw her newly born baby from the fifth floor of her apartment. Exactly, imagine how that must have hurt. Even though protected sex can also cause pregnancy but the risk of pregnancy is way lower compared to unprotected sex. There are many ways to avoid pregnancy. 
        One of the most common ways is to use a condom which is sold in almost every mart such as 7-Eleven. But the chances of pregnancy will still be there as there can also be a tiny hole in the condom where the sperm might swim through. Condoms can be worn by males and females. The next method to avoid pregnancy is by inserting a diaphragm into the female's private part. A diaphragm will avoid the sperm to fuse with the ovum. But diaphragms cannot avoid the transmission of STD. Besides that, there is also birth control pills or also known as "the Pills". These pills will play around with the female's hormones and it will prevent the woman's eggs to be released in the ovaries. This method is useful but it has to be taken everyday because if it is not taken everyday then it will be less efficient and it also can cause side effects.

Poverty

Issue

Have you ever feel unsatisfied with your lifestyle? wishing a more comfortable life as billionaire. Billionaire or not, many people would be dying to switch shoes with you. Some people are so poor that they can die out of starvation and diseases due to lack of nutrition. Surprisingly, almost half of the worlds population live with less than $2.50 a day. That's over 3 billion people were talking about.

Some people's opinion suggested that the hardship of one person has got nothing to do with another. Hey, get real people! Is it human to let others suffer while you just let it be and pretend nothing happened. Its true that some poverty are resulted from plain laziness and making the wrong decisions. However, what about those who are living in a country with weak government or a victim of a disaster. Should they be blamed for their predicament. 

The major cause of poverty can be viewed by the cutbacks in health, education and other vital social services. It is a direct result from structural adjustment policies prescribed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. More over, developing countries compete with each other to gain stability in industry. They will tend to reduce wages and cheaper resources which can lead to inequality among people that can cause poverty.

Effects

1) Children

• Children are born physically and mentally disable and have low birth weight. Parents that bare the child are unable to provide sufficient nutrients to their infant so basically, a child born this way is not normal. 
• They are also less educated compared to wealthy children. In fact, they can't even afford to go to a decent school. Furthermore, they often miss out on school because of their illness. Their disabilities also effects their learning capability. They are slower to understand in learning sessions and sometimes need special attention by teachers. All these factors disrupts them from learning.
• For those whom are not effected by disabilities, their major obstacle is financial support. They can't afford expensive learning tools like books and calculators which puts them at a disadvantage. Aside from that, they are unable to perform their furtheras education costs a lot. It's a shame because they have high desire to succeed but couldn't.

2) Family

• In poor countries, job opportunity are very limited considering the low quantity of resources. Many that could not get a job remain jobless. So poor families will face financial problems. This causes high level of stress that may effect their health and their mentality
• can cause dispute among family members. 
• increase crime rates because everyone are desperate for food and money. They are obligated to support their loved ones even if it means stealing.

3) Homelessness

• Children usually does not receive enough nutrients and immunization. They will receive health problems such as kwashiorkor due to lack of protein.
• Homeless women have problems in giving birth like higher risk of miscarriage due to unbalanced diet. 

 

Censorship

For starters, censorship is the banning of speech or other public communication that are considered harmful, sensitive or politically incorrect which is determined by the people, media or even government. Censorship is commonly used to avoid conflicts and harmful influence towards other people.

There many examples of censorship. One of the most common censorship we can see in our daily life is in film. Some films may contain violent and sexual scene which is inappropriate towards innocent children. So before movies are released onto the big screen, it must first be examine to categorise it into its category. It is divided into 18>, 13> with the accompany of one adult and general. Did you know that the popular movie, A Good Day to Die Hard was band in England. This is due to the fact that the movie was going to be released in 13 above category but it was banned because of inappropriate language use and physical violence which should have been in 18 above.

So let's turn towards a simpler example, video games. I know, many would prefer a violent and adventurous game compared to plain strategy games. However, games which include warfare, fighting and assassination have bad influence towards children and teenagers mindset. Because they are still in their developing stage towards adulthood, they are keen to mimic from whatever they see. They tend to be more violent and try to do dangerous stunts which may cause severe damage towards their body. One of the popular example was the Sandy Hook massacre. A video gamer called Adam Lanza under the influence of the game called "Call On Duty" had shot and killed 20 children and 6 adult staff member at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012. It is considered as the most deadly school shooting in American history. Which is why brutal and erotic games need to be censored for the benefits of the young and immature.

Music are also important factor which may be censored. With all do respect, I am really disappointed with some of the artist today that use inappropriate content in their music videos just to market their songs. I'm sure most of you have heard of Madonna. She is the first ever hottest star to get a music video ( Justify My Love) rejected by MTV as it is deemed too much nudity and bisexuality. One of her music video, "Like A Prayer" had been criticised by religious group because of the burning cross and also the black painted Jesus that had shocked many which eventually caused her TV commercial deal worth $5,000,000 by pepsi cola got cancelled. Her ideology of pushing the boundaries have reached a certain point were it is deemed as gone too far. Although she had millions of fans world wide, she had also offended many in the process. Such idols brings bad influence towards others especially teenagers and children. Now, many artist have also walked the same path in controversial music entertainment such as Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and the hottest debate now which is Miley Cyrus. These kind of music should undeniably be censored without question, as children nowadays can have excess to it with ease through internet.          

Gun Control

Since ancient times, man uses weapons for self defence in order to protect themselves from harm. Humans that lacked physical ability compared to wild beast can protect their territories by killing them using sharp wooden spears. When gun powder was discovered, weapon technology evolve from simple spears and swords to guns and rockets.   

  

Guns are important as it have may use and advantages. Guns help people in so many ways in life and almost every country around the world have them. So why is it that in some countries guns are not legalised? Some  have contradicted the use of guns as it also brings problems with it. Arguments have been made between advocates and protestors about the legalisation of guns. So lets discuss why is it such a big issue nowadays.

So first, lets talk about the advantages. Guns can level the gap between a 200 pound man and a frail person such as old people, women and children. It is better to use a gun rather than a taser which is more unlikely to be overpowered by brute force. When both side have the possession of the gun, the field is levelled. So the attacker would hesitate and think twice before attacking. Hence, guns help weaker defender than stronger attacker. When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade

me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.  Safety assurance of owning a gun helps boost peoples confidence so they wont be easily subdue towards the attackers demands. In a way, guns reduces the need for physical violence. When you see hollywood movies, when a hero is attacked by a street gang, the worst possible outcome is only lip cut and minor bruises. However, real life situation is a completely different story. Victims usually come out with more severe damage such as broken bones or even death. Hence, most people would prefer owning a gun when they are going out especially at night were most crimes happened.

Further more, guns are also used to protect valuable belongings and territory. In some parts of the world, rural countries such as india used guns to chase away wild animals. Wild animals like elephants and tigers sometimes wander of into inhabitant territory, so law enforcement's must use guns to safely drive them away without risking lives. Farmers are also often equipped with guns to protect their farmland from invaders and wild animals. 

Basically, it is also fair to say that owning a gun is an individual right. Polices are sometimes are overpowered by criminals as they lack gun power. Instead, normal citizen owning a gun can give contributions by helping the police to apprehend criminals. If we widen our scoop of view, if every family in a country owns at least a gun, the country will gain better protection from treats from other countries. Government will not be distracted in protecting their citizen and focus more on fighting of enemy attacks. Well armed citizen also well 

protected against government tyranny.

So now we know why guns are important in our daily life. So now we will turn our view towards the other side of the story. Although, guns are used for self defence, some may misuse it for their own selfish benefits. Guns help increase the rate of successful crime because victims that cannot fend for themselves will be forced to obediently follow the attackers will. Criminals are able to rob a bank faster with guns which allow them better chance of escaping. This situation is also similar towards rape attacks. Based on statistic, roughly 16,272 murders were committed in the United States during 2008. Of these, about 10,886 or 67% were committed with firearms (Balanced Politic Organisation). Crimes that may have been less harmful can be made more dangerous by adding a gun.

Guns are also deadly when in falls into the hand of childrens. It is reported that American schools harbor approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims. Dan Olweus, National School Safety Center. Victims of bullies undergo tremendous pressure and constant fear of getting picked on. Hence, they tend to make weak judgements when their mind are full of hatred towards the bullies. There have been many reports that bullied students brought firearms in school where they massacre the bullies and other students to get even. Furthermore, young innocent children are to naive to compare right or wrong. If guns are legalized, chances are, accidents are more likely to happen if it fall in to the children's hands.

Finally, guns are also a popular choice for suicide. With the world becoming more and more hectic, people suffer from all kind of stresses such as in breakups, losing a job or even losing someone they held dear the most. In extreme cases, they will want to die and keep imagining it over and over again. Suicides are more likely to happen with the availability of guns, as it's much easier to act immediately on your impulses when a

gun is available. Guns are used in about half of U.S. suicides, compared with 64 percent in Kentucky. And suicides involving firearms are fatal 85 percent of the time, compared with less than 3 percent for pills, according to the Harvard Injury Control Research Center. 

So know we know why is it that is such hot social issue this time around. It is true that it have many benefits: however in my opinion, I have to appose it as the casualty is more severe. But its up to others to decide whether it is right or wrong, so think about it.   

Anorexia Nervosa

Malaysia is well known for its varieties of food where it is available everywhere so only few would have guess that eating disorder are spreading among Malaysian people. Based on the New Straits Times, according to statistics, anorexia cases were the highest in 2010, which was 127, then reduced to 111 in 2011. The ministry's Nutrition Division director Rokiah Don have pinpointed that anorexia is rising in urban areas.

In order to avoid of this negative situation, we must take early precautions. One of the most distinctive symptoms is that victims of anorexia have intense fear of getting over weight. They constantly tell themselves that gaining a few pounds will make them a laughing stock. They are mostly influenced by actors and models that have slim and thin bodies which ultimately cause extreme obsession. Furthermore, we can also distinguish anorexia patients through warning signs. The most easiest to spot as it is transparent is dramatic weight loss. This is basically due to their denial of hunger. Victims often show change in personality and behavior such as becoming less social with other people, depression and often easily outburst of anger. Other than that, they will also constantly make excuses to avoid mealtime.

Anorexia nervosa are highly serious matter as they have a huge impact towards a persons health. Patients will experience low blood pressure as their heart muscles constantly getting more and more weaker. As a result, their heart rate declined and have high risk of having a heart failure. The lack of nutrient intake in body will cause osteoporosis which is the reduction of bone mass. Weak bones can fracture easily under certain impact. Patience also suffer severe dehydration that can cause them to have kidney failure and hair loss.  

  

In brief, anorexia nervosa is an alarming issue must be dealt with. It can cause serious harm to other people. People should not stop eating. If we want to get fit then we should retain a healthy diet and exercise daily. If it brings more harm than good, is it really that worth it?

Stem Cell Research

Stem cell research started way back in the year 1978 and it’s still being carried on until today. Basically stem cells can be used to regenerate any cell in a living organism. This means if you lost a finger in an accident, you can use stem cells to regenerate a new finger. In simple words, a stem cell is like the “mother” of cells because it can act like any cell in the body.

One of the greatest stories about stem cell research is definitely related to Christopher Reeve. If you didn’t know, Christopher Reeve was the first Superman in movies. He was a great actor until he faced a tragic horse-riding accident. He broke his neck, damaged his spinal cord, and

he couldn’t breathe without a respirator. Basically, Christopher Reeve was paralyzed. He did heavy researches on the spinal cord and he found stem cells. Stem cells are only found in embryos. So, the stem cells need to be extracted from fetuses. Once the stem cells are extracted, they can then be used in patients to regenerate any missing body parts. Note that

stem cells also work on animals. Christopher Reeve is an iconic person in the stem cell research because he did a lot of work in promoting the medical advances in stem cell research. Nearing the end Reeve’s death, he was actually able to regain some movements in his fingers, elbows, knees, and toes. Not only that, he was felt hot and cold. This shows that the stem cells have really helped. Scientifically, the stem cells have transformed into nerve cells, allowing him to feel any difference in temperature.

Although stem cell research brings a lot of medical advances, there are many controversies about it. First of all, stem cells need to be extracted from fetuses. This is a problem because it’s kind of like taking the baby’s life away. Not only that, medical facilities need to a lot of stem cells to do the research. Therefore, they are taking away many lives away. But at the same time, using stem cells could

increase the life span of a living organism. Other than that, certain stem cell therapies have actually developed horrible side effects. There was one time where after a stem cell therapy

was done, there was a developing tumor in the body. Aside from that, stem cells have not actually cured any particular disease. One of the main controversies is “playing god”. By taking away one’s life just to increase your lifespan is unethical and wrong.

Global Warming

In simple words, global warming is the rise in the atmospheric temperature of the Earth. This is also related to the enhanced greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is very simple. Firstly, ultraviolet radiation from the Sun will enter the Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth will then absorb and radiate solar radiation. Theoretically, the solar radiation is supposed to go out of the atmosphere. But due to the greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere, they will absorb and re-radiate it back to the surface to the Earth. As a result, the temperature of Earth has increased.

Global warming has existed for many years. However, due to an increase in human activity, global warming has become worse. Some of the major human/natural causes of  global warming are listed below:

• ·Combustion/Burning of fossil fuels
• ·Production of ammonia (Haber Process)
• ·Formation of Nitrogen Dioxide in the atmosphere
• ·Chlorofluorocarbons in air conditioners
• ·Increase in ozone gas (O3)

Due to global warming, there have been many effects and some of them are often linked to one another.

• Rise of sea level – The increase in temperature leads to the melting of ice caps on the North and South Pole.
• Loss of Habitation - Knowing that the ice caps have melted, life on the North and South Pole will soon deplete. Imagine a family of polar bears trying to survive without any home.
• Acid Rain - Burning of fossil fuels will release a lot of carbon dioxide. That carbon dioxide can react with
  
  rainwater to form acid rain.
• Health Issues - In terms of air pollution, some of the pollutants present in the atmosphere can cause respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Not only that, by inhaling the air particles (pollutants) for a long period of time, it can lead to heavy brain damage.
• Climate Change - Although the temperature increases, it doesn’t necessarily mean every location on Earth will have summer. For instance, certain places like UK might be facing colder conditions.
• Change in Food Chains - Once an (animal) population dies due to the global warming effects, it will surely affect the other animals connected in the food chain. For example, birds eat fish. If the population of fish suddenly dropped due to acid rain, the number of birds will also decrease because there isn’t enough food.

Nowadays, we are developing new technologies to try and reduce this problem. We have catalytic converters installed in every vehicle. They are able to convert very harmful pollutants to less harmful pollutants. We have solar panels which can absorb the Sun’s energy. That absorbed energy can then be used to power up the lighting in a building/house. We have electrically-powered cars which only uses electrical energy instead of petrol. This is very eco-friendly since it doesn’t even release carbon dioxide. Finally, new air-conditioning systems are heavily modified so that they are configured not to release CFC’s.

AIDS

To start off, AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. This disease is caused by a virus known as HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus. This is most common in rural locations like Africa. This virus goes back to the year 1983 and a cure hasn’t been discovered until recently.

Once a person is infected with this virus, he will have a flu-like illness in the beginning. Soon enough, AIDS will affect the body’s immune system. This virus will actually target our most vulnerable white blood cells, and they’re known as the lymphocytes. Without lymphocytes, it will be more difficult for a person to heal from major or even minor sicknesses. Also, antibiotics will have no effect towards this virus because viruses do not have a cell wall like bacteria. Furthermore, it increases the chances of a person getting more diseases. Instead of just being infected with AIDS, he/she could be developing brain cancer.

There are various ways on how this virus spreads. Some of them are listed below:

• Unprotected Sex – Having unprotected sex with a person infected with the virus will definitely transmit the virus because there’s a transfer of body fluids. To prevent this from happening, the answer is very simple. Use contraceptives like condom/spermicide/femidom.
• Sharing Needles – When people are sharing needles and injected themselves with most probably drugs, it’s dangerous because they are also transferring body fluids in the form of blood. Any blood that contains the HIV virus can enter a new person and infect him/her straight away. To lower the chances of obtaining this virus from sharing needles, the needle needs to be sterilized.
• Blood Transfusions – This happens when a patient is undergoing surgical operations. The doctor might accidentally use blood that contains the HIV virus. If there’s any blood contact with that patient, then he/she will get AIDS. These days, blood transfusion doesn’t happen that often because hospitals and blood banks check the blood for any signs for the virus. If the blood doesn’t have the virus, then the blood can be used on patients.
• From mother to child – When a mother is infected with the AIDS, the virus will be carried on to the child. After that, it just depends on whether the child is HIV+ or HIV-. The child could have the virus but not develop AIDS, or the child could have both the virus with AIDS.

As mentioned above, HIV virus can only be transmitted through an exchange of body fluid. Here are a few ideas which people think that it will transmit the virus, but actually, it doesn’t.

• Casual touching – This does not involve any exchange of body fluids. It’s only physical touching. Therefore, transmission of HIV is not possible.
• Kissing – It’s only a physical contact between 2 lips, therefore transmission of HIV is not possible.
• Sharing drinks – Although there’d be an exchange of saliva, HIV can’t be transmitted because in saliva, there’s an extremely low quantity of that virus.
• Hugging – Again, only physical contact is involved. So, HIV can’t be transmitted.

Gangsterism

Gangsterism. What is it? According to Americans, its a wolf pack made by weak people to be "stronger". According to the Japanese, its a clan. A clan for the sake of "protection". For Malaysians? It's FUN. Fun to show off you're in the gang and having the ability to pick on younger kids or people who aren't in a gang. Here is what I think about gangsterism.

Gangsterism is just a way for kids to rebel and in Malaysia, this problem is getting worse. I'm not talking about fights at the back of the alley or the fights in classes where the students go home with just a bruise on their left eye, I'm talking about MURDER. The last few weeks has been a blood bath. According to a source, right now there is a war that is going on between two Indian rival gangs in our beloved/peaceful country. At least 20-30 Indian man were killed. Not just killed. The brutality of the murder was just too horrifying. 

Gangsterism is not the way to live your life. A lot of Malaysians join gangs like 36, 77, 08, 306, 24 etc. The list of gangs in Malaysia is just too long. Which is sad in a way. Gangs have their own ways

to recognize another fellow gang member. Hand signals, "poetry", tattoos and many more. A lot of the new recruits are kids. LITERALLY. It used to be just the upper forms who was in the gang but nowdays, even kids from primary school know about the gangs, the hand signals and even the tattoos. What's going on with our country? We are a cultural country and that should not change. 
Gangs are on the rise in our country and there is no way anyone can stop it from rising. Gang wars are very common between two rival gangs. These gang wars use to be because of the colour of your skin or revenge something a little more important than a stare down. " Fight for the right cause and you will succeed, fight for the wrong cause and you will get yourself killed. " 

A lot of kids sign themselves up to join a gang no matter what skin colour or what the number/name of the gang is, because of the factors in their lives. For example, bullying. Due to the stress of getting beat up or bullied everyday, they sign themselves up to become a gang member and this will prevent them from getting beat up or bullied but not murdered. Kids tend to be amazed by these

gangs when they are in high school where they find it cool/amazing to walk around with 5-10 people at the back of you. Let me tell you something, IT AIN'T COOL BRO. Just because you're walking with 5-10 people at the back of you doesn't make you big or a gangster, it just shows that you would suck in a one to one fight. There are many other ways to fight bullies. For example, Self defense. Pick up a martial art and protect yourself. Or just tell them a lie and say that you're a black belt karate kid so they wouldn't mess with you. (Might not work everytime)

Joining a gang might be a cool move but it still has consequences.  Everything has consequences. Some gangs will never let you leave the clan. This will be a problem when you finally decide to quit and change the way of your life because it will be too late then. Quoting Tupac Amaru Shakur "Live by the gun, Die by the gun." You know what bothers me the most? The people in Salvador have no home and family, so they start a gang called the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS13), that is a reason. To form a family, to show love to the younger ones. Eventhough, they do it with guns and machetes but its understandable. Malaysians? What problems do you have? No money to eat? So you have to sell drugs? No people to love you? So you have to join a gang for love? No home? No government? Dictators? We are definitely a more civilized and more advanced country than the Salvadorians so lets behave like it because right now, we are almost as low as them.
